Cared 4 Ltd
19 Brookhill St
We know how hard it can be as a new mum to entrust your baby to the care of others. At Cared 4 Ltd, Brookhill House Day Nursery we have a dedicated Baby Unit (0-2 years) where your little ones can begin to take those first steps towards confident independence.
As a first secure step outside from the family home we do all we can to make sure our Baby room offers babies a cosy, clean, home from home environment.
It comprises of two large, bright, airy spacious rooms with its own kitchen, bathroom and conservatory area. Outside the baby room is a decked area so babies can free flow outdoors as well as a large, lawned garden and sensory garden, where they can explore with the older nursery children.
We know that caring for babies is not the same as caring for pre-schoolers. We take Staff training very seriously to ensure we are current in our practice in line with governmental or health advisory bodies, eg with Health Visitors or Early Years specialists to ensure we understand the latest on weaning, behaviour or development specific to the 0-2 age range. We are happy to share this knowledge with you and support you using our years of experience. Most staff working within this room have been employed at the nursery for twenty plus years and will have come across some issues many times.
These early years have always been recognised as crucial to your baby’s development. Foundations are laid in the first two years have been proven to impact on your child’s later learning and social emotional development. That is why our focus remains on expanding your child’s experience and knowledge in a caring, secure and age appropriate way.
Staff engage with the babies providing them with many exciting, stimulating, sensory activities to ignite the child’s brain ensuring the formation of cognition. Staff follow the Early Years foundation Stage to ensure children develop in the three prime areas of learning Personal , Social emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical development. Activities are child initiated and led with staff on hand to promote next steps in learning and develop activities around baby’s individual needs.
Babies are able to free flow from their base rooms to the conservatory and choose which activities they would like to participate in. One of the rooms also incorporates a soft play area.
Each morning the babies participate in a short registration time consisting of the morning song and placing their pictures on the board giving them a sense of respect and value as individuals. Throughout the day staff encourage babies to develop their own self-help skills through cleaning their own teeth, feeding themselves, with older babies pouring their own milk into cups and helping to spread butter onto the own toast in the mornings. Staff also used basic Makaton sign language with the babies which gives them another way to communicate their needs and helps communication to develop rapidly.
Parents know best
Staff work with babies’ own unique routines ensuring consistency of care between the home and nursery environment. Staff nurture the babies and provide them with warmth, love and care enabling strong attachments to be made and each baby has their own key person. A daily handover with parents allow us and you to have the dialogue necessary to raising healthy children.
Meals are freshly prepared each day by our qualified cook and we have a five star food hygiene rating. Dietary requirements are catered for as we are aware all babies may not be at the same stage of weaning so we strive to meet all babies’ individual requirements.
Formula milk is also provided by the nursery up until the child reaches their first birthday.
Babies spend plenty of time outdoors investigating the sensory garden, playing on the grass and in the mud kitchen also playing in cars on the matted area. Babies also participate in parachute games and lots of singing and musical instruments.
Prams are provided outdoors in the pram shelter for babies to sleep in the fresh air, falling asleep to the sounds of the birds. It is situated in full view of the office and in addition CCTV monitors the area and staff check regularly on sleeping babies.
We regularly invite outside professionals in to visit the nursery to allow for new experiences that all build to that time when your child is ready for their next step to the Toddler room.
